BetMGM to bring online sports betting platform to North Carolina

An agreement with Charlotte Motor Speedway is enabling it.

BetMGM and Charlotte Motor Speedway have agreed to a new market access agreement, which will allow the operator to bring its online sports betting platform to North Carolina, subject to regulatory approval.

Tax revenues from sports betting are expected to support many of North Carolina’s publicly funded colleges, as well as to support a major event fund which aims to drive additional tourism, job creation and economic impact.

BetMGM will be able to bring its online sports betting platform once legalised sports betting launches in the Tar Heel State, which is expected to be the first quarter of 2024.

Last month,

the North Carolina State Lottery Commission Chair

, Ripley Rand, stated that mobile sports betting will not be legal and live in the state before the 2024 Super Bowl.

BetMGM CEO Adam Greenblatt said: “We have been eagerly awaiting legal, safe, regulated online sports betting in North Carolina, a state with more than 10 million people and one of the most vibrant sports environments in the country.

“BetMGM’s partnership with Charlotte Motor Speedway meets a great demand for entertainment from North Carolinians. Together we will deliver a premier and responsible gaming product that benefits many state agencies.”

Also today,

DraftKings and NASCAR

agreed terms on a written designation agreement, which will allow DraftKings to operate in the US state of North Carolina, as well as DraftKings being named the exclusive daily fantasy sports partner of NASCAR in the US and Canada.

BetMGM CEO Greenblatt spoke recently to the
